Do Your Ears Tickle?

2 Timothy 4:3-4 "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires; and will turn away their ears from the truth, and will turn aside to myths."

My daughter's school, New Albion Academy, just came out with their new brochures. I love the theme they have chosen for their Classical School philosophy. (If you don't know what classical education is, google it - it is worth knowing) They came up with three "becauses" - (I thought that was good since children spend about 7 years asking why?)

Because
There is truth.

Because
It can be known.

Because
Your children can love it.

Truth Can Be Known

This is so simple yet so profound, not only in education but in parenting, relationships, and especially in discovering the truth in God's Word. There IS truth - it does NOT change from person to person. If it, in fact, was relative to each person's belief "system", then it could not be called truth. Truth is universal, indisputable, and constant.

The truth in God's Word is never changing, not evolving, and is not dependant upon mere man's interpretation. It can be known by Scripture itself. This is called Sola Scriptura ~ Sola Scriptura demands that no doctrine is to be admitted or confessed that is not found directly or logically within Scripture. In simple terms = Scripture interprets Scripture.

I am thankful that I can find a school which upholds and adheres to this truth principle. I am most thankful that my church holds these truths over anything else.

Got Truth? It DOES matter!
